Moan Red of Moan Red Land picked up the guitar at a young age, in West London, U.K. Not long after that he began singing and crafting songs.

Moan Red led two bands in London; Doveton Sturdee (named after an admiral in the British Navy) and Sheriff. Neither group was around for long, but both bands made names for themselves with exciting shows in London music venues.

After the bands and a college stint, the man with the music had a vision of a one man rock show. Using the name Miami Red, he booked himself a show at a pub in Camden, North London. He got up on stage with his electric guitar and his songs: the vision was in motion.

One day ‘Miami’ was listening to a recording of one of his songs: what he heard sounded like a moan. Over the next couple of years Moan Red unveiled his magical sounds all over London. His regular spots included The Bull of St. Johns Pub and the Bring Your Own Poison nights in Brick Lane, Whitechapel and Shoreditch.

In 2005, Moan Red moved to Los Angeles. The city is the birthplace for a number of his songs, such as ‘Josephine’, Mistakes I’ve Made' - and of course - ‘A Skunk In L.A.’ On the evening of August 4th, 2010, Moan Red played what he claims is his best show to date, at The Whisky A Go Go. People do indeed make the party and the Moan Red Land believers came out in force on that night.

One fan describes the music of Moan Red Land as, 'Rock ‘n’ roll meets folk’; it’s one of Moan Red's favorite descriptions - 'As if Jimmy Page played a solo show in CBGB's in the 70's' is another favourite. To be sure to be added to the mailing list, send a message to moanredland@gmail.com.
